Howlings caught up very briefly with the recently resigned Trevor Glass. The who was in Charlotte last season and then suffered a bad back and hip injury that essentially ended his season. He’s had time to mend and the Wolf Pack monitored his rehabilitation they were impressed with where he was at and the level of commitment he had and as a result they resigned him to a contract for the 2010-2011 season.
The 6-0, 197-pound defenseman from Cochrane, Alberta was thrilled when he was told by his agent that the Wolf Pack wanted to bring him back. “When I found out the team was going to give me another chance after being hurt I couldn’t have been any happier.” He said. “It felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. It felt like the recovery from my injury and training now had a purpose and goal to reach again making thing so much easier to do.”
Glass is a defense first defenseman, but not afraid about getting into the offense. During his 57 games with the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League in 2008-2009, Glass scored six goals and added 19 assists for 25 points. He also put 28 PIM and a nice plus-16 into the team’s hockey ledger.
“I base my game around being able seeing the ice and making the good first pass.” Glass said with enthusiasm. “I make sure to take care of the defensive end first, but if the opportunity arises to jump in the play and help out offensively I like to do that as well.”
Glass has been influenced by a lot of defenseman over his twenty-two years on this rock we call Earth. “I don’t have a particular player that I model my game after,” The left handed shooting defenseman said. “(I’ve) been able to learn a lot from some great players that I have played with in the past such as Kris Russell and Cam Barker.”
Hartford is hoping that influence pays dividends on the Wolf Pack’s blueline this coming season.
