HURRICANES ASSIGN BOYCHUK TO CHARLOTTE

Carolina’s training camp roster stands at 25 players

 Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced than the team has assigned forward Zach Boychuk to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

 The Hurricanes’ training camp roster now stands at 25 players, the maximum allowed for the team’s two 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere regular-season games against the Minnesota Wild in Helsinki, Finland on Oct. 7-8. An updated training camp roster is attached to this release.

 The Carolina Hurricanes wrap up their 2010 North American exhibition schedule on Friday at the RBC Center against the Atlanta Thrashers (1:30 p.m., Hurricanes Radio Network). Following Friday’s game, Carolina will travel to St. Petersburg, Russia, where they will play an exhibition game against SKA St. Petersburg on Oct. 4. The Hurricanes will begin their 2010-11 regular-season campaign with back-to-back games against the Minnesota Wild in Helsinki, Finland, on Oct. 7-8, as a part of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere.
