Charlotte Checkers HURRICANES REASSIGN BRETT CARSON TO CHARLOTTE

Defenseman has yet to make NHL season debut

Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned defenseman Brett Carson to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Carson, 24, was recalled from Charlotte on Oct. 16, and was a healthy extra for Carolina’s games at Vancouver, San Jose, Los Angeles and Phoenix during his recall. The Regina, Sask., native was also with the Hurricanes during the team’s two regular-season games against Minnesota in Helsinki, Finland, but did not play. Carson (6’4”, 210 lbs.) played in three games with the Checkers after being assigned to the AHL on Oct. 9.

The Carolina Hurricanes will play their North American home opener on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the RBC Center against the Washington Capitals (7 p.m., FOX Sports Carolinas HD, Hurricanes Radio Network).
