THREE ROAD WARRIORS CALLED UP TO AHL

Greenville Road WarriorsThe Greenville Road Warriors announced today that three of their players have received their first call up to the American Hockey League of the season.

Goalie Nic Riopel and defenseman Cullen Eddy have been recalled from their loans to the Road Warriors by the Adirondack Phantoms. Riopel, who is tied for the league lead with six victories, posted his first professional shutout last Saturday with 32 saves in a 3-0 win over the Florida Everblades. Riopel has been especially strong at the BI-LO Center where he has won five straight starts and is 6-1-1 on the season. Eddy, meanwhile, is third among defenseman on the Road Warriors with three points (1G, 2A) through eight games. The rookie, out of Mercyhurst College, has the second best plus/minus rating on the team at +5.

Additionally, Julien Brouillette was loaned to the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers. The fourth-year defenseman played his last two ECHL seasons with the Checkers before they moved up a league. It will be Brouillette’s third tour of duty in the AHL after playing three games with Providence (1A) and 24 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack (1G, 3A) in 2009-10. The 23-year-old currently leads ECHL defensemen in goals (6), points (11), shorthanded goals (1), and plus/minus (+9).

The three players are expected to be in uniform tonight when the Phantoms visit the Checkers at Time Warner Cable Arena. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it is expected that all three will return in time for the Road Warriors’ game tomorrow night against the Wheeling Nailers at 7:05 p.m.

Mark your calendars! The Road Warriors are back on home ice to take on the Wheeling Nailers at 7:05 p.m. on November 18.
