WANT TO WORK IN PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY?

Getting a position is professional sports is like trying to get a straight answer from a scandal ridden politician…next to impossible.

Well, there are a few ways to get in to the industry…

1) Be related to someone who works in it
2) Have some compromising pictures of someone in a hierarchy
3) Start as an intern

or:

4) Be willing to start in a lower league and build up your experience so that when you have credibility you can go to a higher league as an experienced person.

The Danbury Whalers have opportunities for people to get their foot-in-the-door in the following areas:

In terms of game-day operations, the team is looking for:

Team Organist
Do you play the piano? Or do you know someone who would be a great fit?

Promotional Team
Be a part of the game experience – lots of fun!!! Ask yourself – do you like fun? If yes, this is for you.

Singers
We need vocalists this year – if you have the pipes, we’d love to hear from you.

As far as positions where you can get paid and get experience so that you can move up in the trade, the Whalers are looking for:

Group Sales Manager
If you are interested in working a few hours this is a great spot

No experience is necessary for either opportunity however a sales background is highly preferred.

Mitch Beck

Mitch Beck was a standup comedian and radio personality for over 25 years. His passion for hockey started with Team USA in 1980 when they defeated the Soviets at Lake Placid. He has also worked in hockey as a coach and administrator. He also works for USA Hockey as a Coach Developer. Mitch has been reporting on the New York Rangers, and exclusively on the Hartford Wolf Pack since 2005.
