The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that forward Randy McNaught has been loaned to the club by the American Hockey League’s Connecticut Whale.

After beginning the season with the University of Calgary, McNaught signed an AHL contract with the Whale on January 23, 2012. He appeared in one game with the Whale and was held without a point in a 2-1 loss against Springfield on January 28. Prior to making his pro debut, McNaught was scoreless and had 24 penalty minutes with the University of Calgary this season.

A 6-5, 220-pound winger, McNaught was a seventh round draft pick (#190 overall) of the New York Rangers in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. McNaught played four seasons of major junior hockey in the Western Hockey League from 2007 to 2011 and posted 27 points (15G, 12A) and 321 penalty minutes over 154 games.

McNaught is expected to be in the lineup when the Road Warriors take on the Gwinnett Gladiators tonight.
