GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Greenville Swamp Rabbits have acquired forward Jordan Sims from the Cincinnati Cyclones in exchange for future considerations.
Sims, 28, is in his fifth professional season, having split time between the SPHL, the ECHL, the AHL, and the top professional league in France. In 150 ECHL games, Sims has added 35 goals and 63 assists, good for 98 points.
Nearly half of his ECHL points came during the 2016–17 season for the Cyclones, as in 59 games, he notched 44 points. That mark was good for third on the team, just five points off the pace of team leader Nick Huard.
Last season, Sims captured the French Cup championship with Lyon of the top French professional league.
Sims’ college career was a productive one at the University of Connecticut. He put up 101 points in his four seasons and was most productive in his junior season, where he posted 31 of those points.
Sims comes from a hockey bloodline, as his father, father, Al, played for the Boston Bruins and the Los Angeles Kings in the late 70s and early 80s, and has served as a coach at the professional level dating back to 1988.
