AHL HELP HAITI APPEALS

AHL Logo The American Hockey League has announced a league-wide initiative designed to raise funds and awareness in the wake of the devastating earthquake and aftershocks that have struck Haiti.

At games throughout the AHL for the rest of the month, the league’s head coaches will be calling on fans through video board messages to make donations to help the relief efforts via the American and Canadian Red Cross’ text-to-donate campaigns, as well as individual team fundraisers.

“Our head coaches have come together from across the league to take on this important initiative,” said AHL President and CEO David Andrews. “With more than 400,000 fans expected to be in attendance at games over the next two weeks, we have a terrific opportunity to make a much-needed contribution to the cause.”

You can help the victims of the earthquake in Haiti, as well as other crises around the world, by making a financial gift to the American Red Cross International Response Fund or the Canadian Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Fund, which provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need. For more information on the American Red Cross, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit www.redcross.org. For more information on the Canadian Red Cross, call 1-800-418-1111 or visit www.redcross.ca.

In operation since 1936, the American Hockey League continues to serve as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 84 percent of NHL players this season are AHL graduates, and more than 6 million fans attend AHL games across North America each year.
