Nick Niedert Signs Agreement for 2011-12 Season

Danbury WhalersHerm Sorcher, CEO and Managing General Partner of The Danbury Whalers announced that Goaltender, Nick Niedert has resigned with the team for the 2011-12 season.

Niedert led the Federal Hockey League in four different goaltending categories.  Finishing on top with 2 shutouts, total saves (1122), 38 games played, and 2164 total minutes played.

The Danbury netminder was 3rd overall in the FHL with 19 wins and finished 4th among qualifying goalies with a 3.52 Goals Against Average (GAA) and .898 Save percentage.

niedert head shotLast season, Niedert split time between the Danbury Whalers and the Dayton Gems of the Central Hockey League (AA).

Niedert has over 100 career wins entering his 8th professional season. The 5’8, 185 pounder from Hudson Iowa was thrilled to have been resigned. “I am proud to be back for a 2nd season in Danbury.  The fans, the community and the hockey atmosphere – is second to none.”

Mitch Beck was a standup comedian and radio personality for over 25 years. His passion for hockey started with Team USA in 1980 when they defeated the Soviets at Lake Placid. He has also worked in hockey as a coach and administrator. He also works for USA Hockey as a Coach Developer. Mitch has been reporting on the New York Rangers, and exclusively on the Hartford Wolf Pack since 2005.
