ESTERO, FL – The Florida Everblades pulled away in the third period, as the Greenville Swamp Rabbits fell in Game 6, 5-1, to the Everblades, who captured the first-round series 4-2 on Monday at Hertz Arena.

After a scoreless first period that saw the Everblades outshoot the Swamp Rabbits 14-6, Greenville scored the game’s first goal at 2:42, as Bobby Russell snapped a power-play goal into the net from just inside the blue line. Then, at 11:07, Florida tied the game with a 5-on-3 power-play, as John McCarron scored his second of the series.
In the third, the Everblades took the 2-1 lead with Joe Pendenza’s goal at 10:14. Florida added a pair of quick goals from Zach Solow at 13:21 and Darik Angeli at 15:52 to open a 4-1 lead. Pendenza scored an empty-net goal at 17:11 to secure the 5-1 score-line.
With the loss, the Swamp Rabbits’ season ends, as the Everblades captured the 4-2 series win and advanced to take on the Jacksonville Icemen in the second round of the 2022 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Greenville finished the regular season with a 33-29-6-4 record after starting the season with just nine wins in their first 30 games.
